Clonmel Credit Union Premier League
CLONMEL CELTIC 0 ST MICHAEL’S 4
The Clonmel Credit Union Premier League is now down to just two head-to-head games between reigning champions St Michael’s and Peake Villa to decide the destination of this year’s trophy, after the Tipperary Town side easily overcame Clonmel Celtic by 4-0 on Wednesday evening at the By Pass in Clonmel.
First half goals from Colin Bargary (22), Chris Higgins (24) and Russell Quirke (44) had the visitors comfortably ahead at the interval. Another goal eight minutes from the end from substitute Rhys Byron completed the facile victory for the Saints.
The destination of the league title could be decided on Monday night next at Cooke Park where St Michael’s entertain Peake Villa. If the Thurles side can get a draw from this game it will be enough to see them crowned champions.
However, if St Michael’s secure a home win, then the destination of the silverware will have to wait until Friday, June 2, when the sides meet once again at the Tower Field in Thurles. Again, if Peake Villa can secure a point at home (if they haven’t already done so in the Cooke Park game) then the Clonmel Credit Union Premier League title will be destined for the Cathedral Town for the 2022/2023 season
Exciting times ahead so in this end of season duel.
