Closure of popular North Tipp pub is another sign of rural decline

Finn's Pub in Templemore. Cllr Noel Coonan told a recent meeting that its closure is yet another symptom of a neglected rural Ireland.

Cllr Noel Coonan told a recent meeting of Thurles Municipal District that he was greatly saddened to hear of the closure of a popular and greatly valued pub in Templemore.

“Unfortunately,” he remarked, “after 17 years in business, Finn's pub on Mary Street, formerly known as Dowlings, is closing. This, I think, is symptomatic of a declining rural Ireland, a rural Ireland which has not received the support it deserves.”

He said Finn's is a very attractive pub, with a lovely facade and welcoming interior and will be sorely missed.

He wished the owners well in the years to come.
