Jess is flying the nest - Tipperary golfers send their congratulations on graduation

Best wishes to Jessica
We ended the week bidding farewell to our lovely Jessica Cahill, who is flying the Slievenamon nest having finished College and is now set for a high flying career in Project Management.

Jess will be greatly missed by all of us in the club.

Perfect time for some serious golf
Members of Slievenamon Golf Club took full advantage of the weather to put in some serious golfing on a Course that is in fabulous condition, thanks to the ministrations of Paul Kenny and his crew.
In the Vale Oil Open Singles Qualifiers on May 19, Graham O’Reilly shot the round of his life and scored 51 to take top spot, Michael A O’Meara securing 2nd place on 41, with Con O’Leary in 3rd on 39.
Meanwhile in the Weekend Singles Competition, Michael Ryan took 1st on 48, with Richard Falsey in 2nd on 44 and Declan McAssey in 3rd, also on 44. Michael A O’Meara won Gross on 30.

Mixed Scramble
In Monday night’s Mixed Scramble Competition, John Doyle, Paddy Bambrick and Vera Power lead the field with a nett score of 37.5 on countback, narrowly beating John Fitzgibbon, Paula Spillane and Kay Walsh into 2nd spot. Brian Moore, Jimmy Kelly and Bernie Phelan took 3rd on 38.2.

Tuesday Scramble
On Tuesday, six teams played in the Ladies 12 Hole Scramble, with Josephine Murphy, Marie Holohan and Patricia Costello taking the top prize with a nett score of 40.

Champagne Scramble
On Wednesday, our Senior came out in force to play a Champagne Scramble in glorious conditions. In 3rd place were Team 5, Jim O’Brien, Mick Burke and Paddy Bambrick costing a combined 81 points. In 2nd place was Team 9, Rory Doheny, Frank Lonergan and Jackie O’Dwyer, on 83 points.
Winners were Team 11, Danny Ryan, Colm Butler, Sean Alyward and Matty Tynan with a combined score of 87 points. No one begrudged Sean Aylward his 1st place - given that his golf trolley had suffered a watery fate at the weekend, he needed all the good cheer he could muster!

Carton Cup
On Wednesday, also, our Ladies Carton Cup Team suffered a narrow defeat to Dundrum, having put in a stunning performance. Dundrum had the edge on the night, however, and we wish them all the best in their next round.
On Thursday, the Ladies played a 9 Hole Stableford Competition, with Marie Walsh taking top spot on 21 points.

Golf Classic
Friday and Saturday, we were delighted to play host the Fethard Patrician Presentation Secondary School Golf Classic, which was run to raise funding for school activities. 35 teams played in blistering heat, As part of the Classic, the Patrician Presentation School also ran a very successful Mini Golf Tournament, with a very enthusiastic field of players, both young and old, getting to grips with our Adventure Golf Course. Great fun was had by all, and the school was delighted with the support it received.

Open Golf competition
Our own Ladies are running a Ladies Open Golf Competition on Friday 20th June, which will comprise a 3 person Champagne Scramble, and tee times are currently available to any groups interested in participating.
