Criunniú ná nOg day in Clonmel

Pottery making will be among the craft displays for the Applefest event in the Kickham Plaza on Saturday

Clonmel Applefest will be hosting an arts and creativity day for children and their families at the new civic plaza at the Kickham Barracks as part of the national Criunniú ná nÒg Day on Saturday June 10 from 12noon to 4pm.

A large selection of handcraft and arts activities will be available to try out and explore, from willow weaving with Greenmantle Arts to felting, drawing, clay works, hair braiding and hay figures while listening to a selection of young musical and performing talent from Tipperary.

BIG BLACK DOG

Brigid Teehan from Beehouse Arts will return with free hand charcoal drawing, Lyn Kirkham from Greenmantle Arts will bring her Big Black Dog for display and a large collective willow figure to weave with natural materials, ceramicist Eileen Singleton is bringing her ever popular potter' wheel, Ruta Ivanauskaite-Little will introduce us to dry and wet felting and Elke Wilson will be making hay animals with all levels of ability and ages.

 FAMILY DAY OUT

There will also be a raw baking station, face-painting, hair braiding, and the Fitnut coffee dock and an Ice cream van. Something to please all the family.

 PERFORMERS

A selection of performers of DR2 dance school and Bellvue Academy as well as solo artist Alanna Manton from the Rockwell Academy and Open Mic sessions for children by Catherine McVicker and songs for toddlers and young ones by Michael Ryan will also be on offer.

APPLEFEST

Applefest will provide some shelter from the sun, should the day be very hot but parents are advised to bring sunscreen and hats for protection. 

Criunniú ná nÒg is an initiative of Creative Ireland administered through the Tipperary Heritage Office.
