Tipperary issued with status yellow weather alert as more thunderstorms are expected

Thunderstorm warning for Tipperary

A New Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Tipperary, along with 20 other counties as Met Éireann have announced that heavy showers are likely over the next 24 hours.

A thunderstorm and rain warning for counties Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Galway and Roscommon comes into effect at 12pm and will remain in place until 10pm tonight.

Met Éireann said that spot flooding, poor driving visibility, difficult travelling conditions and power outages are all possible.

The UK Met Office has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for all of Northern Ireland, which is in place from 1pm to 8pm today.

Met Eireann forecast sunny spells this morning, but adds that showers will become heavier and more widespread this afternoon and evening with thunderstorms and localised flooding possible. Highest temperatures are expected to be between 18C to 22C.

Showers will begin to die off overnight, except for south and west coasts.
