Tipperary Ladies footballers are focused on the game at hand despite AFLW dreams

Aherlow player Anna Rose Kennedy led DCU Dóchas Éireann to victory with Yoplait O’Connor Cup success

The championship is always hard to call in Ladies football and this year is no different to before.

Tipperary go into this campaign after a mixed bag in the league where they performed well in a number of games but came up short against Armagh.

In the provincial campaign, a strong Kerry side at Bansha were too strong for Peter Creedon's charges who will look now to drive on and beat Galway this Sunday at Templetuohy.

After the current championship ends, Tipperary star forward Aishling Moloney - along with her teammates Niamh Martin and Anna Rose Kennedy - will join AFLW teams later in the year after the All-Ireland series.

Anna Rose Kennedy has proven herself a key player on the colleges circuit in recent times and the trios performances for Tipperary have put them in the shop window.

As a result, they will travel to Australia to pursue new ambitions after the campaign ends.

Former Tipperary players Aishling MacCarthy and Orla O'Dwyer have performed at a high level since their transition from gaelic games to professional sport in recent times.

Tipperary play Galway this Sunday, and will play Cork in round three, so the panel will be hoping to make the most of the chance to win while the team is at its strongest and the departing trio can play their part.

Moloney has said she will return for the championship next year as well following a few months down under but the current campaign is where Tipp will be hoping they can make inroads in the championship.

All eyes and focus will be on Templetuohy next Sunday for the all important championship game against the westerners. Throw in is at 2pm.
