Durlas Óg represented Tipperary in division 1 of the hurling competition at the John West Féile na nGael National hurling finals, 2023 at the Connacht GAA Centre, Bekan, Co Mayo last weekend.

Over a hundred teams took part in John West Féile na nGael regional finals taking place at 13 venues across Ireland on the same day.

A busy division 1 schedule meant Durlas Óg make the journey to The Dome in Connacht for their array of fixtures and the action got underway when the Thurles side played Ruairi Óg of Antrim.

After getting their bearings in the novel surroundings, the Tipperary side found their stride to push on and get a first win under their belt.

Next up was Castlegar from Galway and another tough encounter but in the end the Tipperary side claimed the victory to joyous scenes.

That win set up a Semi final clash with Carrigtwohill from Cork and like all tussles between Tipperary and Cork down the years, this one was decided late on but it was the Cork side that eventually overcame Durlas Óg to reach the national decider.

Despite losing out the experience of a fantastic sporting weekend will stand to all the players across their careers. Well done to Durlas Óg on reaching the national semi final and representing their club and county so well.

In total eighty club sides took part in the national finals across seven venues in Connacht. Sponsored for the eighth time by John West, it is one of the biggest underage sporting events on the continent. It was a time that will be remembered for years to come.
