Cycle for Mick was a huge success this year in Roscrea
The annual Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré cycle to work has become a huge fixture in the calendar in Roscrea for a number of years and with the importance of cleaner, greener living becoming more obvious in this era full of environmental challenges, it has taken on even more significance.
The annual event took place earlier this month in the town and, for the second year running, a significant sum of money was raised for Offaly Hospice in memory of Mick O'Shea.
Mick was a former teacher in Coláiste Phobal who gladly cycled to work everyday. The popular educator was a driving force in the community and he played a key role in setting up the annual cycle.
Now, after many years, the cycle has been called after him to honour his memory as well as try to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.
This year 18 people took part in the hugely enjoyable cycle and the staff of Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré generously donated to the worthy cause, thereby raising a total of €763 in the process.
The organisers this year wish to remember Mick and to extend a huge thank you to all who contributed to such a great cause.
