Tipperary receives almost €80,000 in funding to maintain forest walks and amenities

Tipperary has been allocated a total of €77,760 to develop and upgrade forest parks, walking trails and outdoor amenities.

The announcement came this Friday from Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, and is part of a €3m funding package to develop and upgrade over 300 forest parks, walking trails and outdoor amenities across the country.

Included Coillte 2023 New Capital Project Works is a major trail upgrade for Tipperary Marlfield with €23,040 allocated to this project.

Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Michael Lowry emphasised the great importance of investment in outdoor activities.

"Being outdoors and enjoying our beautiful countryside in Tipperary has a hugely positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing," he said.

Among the areas to receive funding are: Bansha Woods, Bishop's Woods / Gortarush, Cahir Park, Castlelough / Tipperary Heritage Way, Devil's Bit Trail, Doonane / Ballyhourigan, Glengarra, Gortavoher / Ardloman, Grangecrag, Greenfield and Kildanoge.
