Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.

Jimmy was a pillar of the St Mary’s club and became the 20th chairman of the South Tipperary GAA Board in 1991 and had a successful three year term in that office. Jimmy was also a fine hurler and footballer, he was on the St. Mary’s minor team that won the South Tipperary title in 1953, he was on the 1969 team that won the South junior title the first since 1936. He played on the county junior hurling team in 1958 and 1961.

As a referee he had few equals refereeing at club, county and inter county and he did trojan work in seeking out and encouraging young referees.

Jimmy Collins served as chairman of St Mary’s Club in 1981, 1982 and 1984.

He won a County Tipperary Sean Ghael award in 2006.

The coaching of St. Mary’s juveniles was his first love, his lifetime of service in this capacity has ensured the continued development of the Western Road club.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Collins family at this sad time.

Reposing at Condons Funeral Parlour, Clonmel on Wednesday evening from 4.30pm to 7 pm. Removal on Thursday to St Mary’s Church, Irishtown. Funeral Mass on arrival at 12.00 noon.
