Tipperary TD Alan Kelly poses for a selfie with Ardfinnan's Cara Darmody outside the Dáil
Autism campaigner Cara Darmody is to meet Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today, Wednesday July 5.
It will be the second of two important meetings in a few days for Cara.
She already met with HSE CEO Bernard Gloster and will bring up the same issues with the Taoiseach on Wednesday.
“I’m delighted to confirm that autism campaigner Cara Darmody and her dad Mark will meet with both the Taoiseach and separately with the CEO of the HSE.
“Firstly, they will meet with HSE CEO Bernard Gloster and with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar,” said Deputy Alan Kelly.
“I was delighted to be able to help facilitate both meetings and thank them both for making time available.
“The campaign of Cara Darmody on behalf of her two brothers has been inspirational and she has achieved huge change.
“In particular the commitment from Minister for Disabilities, Anne Rabbitte TD to ensure that anyone who needs an assessment of needs can apply for this privately and it will be paid by the HSE if a number of regional assessment centres aren’t open by August 1,” said Deputy Kelly.
