Nine new social houses were due to be complete as well as a new footpath, car parking and other facilities however delays have slowed up progress
Delays in the development taking place at Boherclough Street, Cashel were raised at the recent Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District meeting.
Nine new social houses were due to be completed at the junction of Boherclough Street and Deerpark Road as well as a new footpath, car parking and other facilities however delays have slowed up progress.
Councillor Roger Kennedy raised the issue and he enquired about the delays and voiced his frustration at the lack of progress: “I thought Boherclough was listed for Quarter 3 of 2023 but I see now it is Quarter 4. Are there issues or is it that work just didn’t proceed as initially planned?” he said.
Councillor Burgess also felt the matter needed addressing and spoke about the delays in getting the area modernised. He said: “I welcome the progress to date but I do share the concern expressed by Cllr Kennedy. I was very conscious that we would have tenants before Christmas in those nine units and I feel that should be the aim of this council.”
Councillor Burgess too asked for an update on the matter, and while the roundabout will be developed soon in the area, he felt an update now and a timeline on a resolution was appropriate.
The council representative responded by confirming the delays were occuring at present: “That was originally Q3 but it is now Q4.”
“After tender the agreement was made with Irish Water for the works to be done there and what is agreed with Irish Water is a significant increase on what part of the original tender so it has added a delay to it.
“The contractor currently has sub contractors to do the work and the plan is hopefully to start the work around the end of August. The programme now for that job is currently from the middle of November to the end of November this year,” they added.
