On Sunday next, July 16, the 100th Anniversary of the death of Liam Lynch will be commemorated as it has been every year since 1923.
In 1935 the Round Tower monument was unveilled by Maurice Twomey. Built by locals with help and support from Republicans from far and near.
On Sunday the local ‘Safe House’ families will also be remembered and the great women of Cumann na mBan, the unsung heroes of the fight in pursuit of a 32 county Irish Republic.
The speaker this year is Dr Tim Horgan. There will be refreshments and music in Goatenbridge afterwards.
This Commemoration is non political and all are welcome at 2.30 on the mountain.
From Goatenbridge follow the flags up the mountain track.
