Fethard and District Daycare Centre CLG directors and managers were delighted to welcome Paschal Donohoe TD, Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform to Presentation Convent, Fethard as part of pre budget funding discussions.
The met with some of the Ukrainian residents and was very interested in them and how they are coping in a very difficult situation. He was pleasantly surprised to find so many of them have found full time work locally and that the children are settling well in school.
The directors showed Minister Donoghue plans to develop the convent campus to include 14 independent living units as well as an enhanced Daycare facility and community rooms. They explained how funding had been cut during the banking crises and never restored. The roof of the convent is in need of replacement, as is the Daycare bus. The difficulties they have in financing these were pointed out and noted.
