Tipperary's Katie Bergin and Sharlene Mawdsley will rub shoulders with the greats of Irish athletics

Katie Bergin Moyne AC, 100 metres and 200 metres, and Sharlene Mawdsley, Newport AC, 400 metres, will travel to Santry Stadium in Dublin next weekend and rub shoulders with the stars of Irish athletics in the All-Ireland Senior Track and Field Championships.

Also competing will be Rhasidat Adeleke, 100 metres,Tallaght AC and Texas University; Lucy Mae Sleeman, Leevale AC, 100 metres and 200 metres who is ranked third Under 20 in the world; Lauren Roy, City of Lisburn AC, 100 and 200 metres;  Sophie O'Sullivan, Ballymore AC, the recent European Under 23 1,500 metres champion and daughter of the legendary Sonia; Olympians Sophie Becker, Raheny Shamrocks AC, Phil Healy, Bandon AC and Sarah Healy UCD AC. 

With the World Championships in Budapest starting in three weeks time, it's the last chance for athletes to impress the selection committee.

21-year-old Katie Bergin's weekend will commence on Saturday with the heats of the 200 metres shortly before 1pm. If she can repeat her performance of the Morton Games, a place in the final at 3pm might be beckoning.

On Sunday, Katie's attention will turn to the 100 metres, where Rhasidat Adeleke, Lucy Mae Sleeman, Sarah Leahy and Lauren Roy will all be vying for a place on the Irish squad for Budapest.
