The split season between club and inter-county GAA games is working well.
That's according to Tipperary and Loughmore/Castleiney hurling star John McGrath.
Speaking ahead of the start of the FBD Insurance County Hurling Championships this weekend, he said "it (the split season) probably takes a while to figure itself out.
"Even this year they tweaked it slightly from the year before, I think they moved it by a week or two. It will maybe take a few more little tweaks to settle it down fully.
"I think it's great, the idea of it is brilliant, it gives much more clarity to games. You had it before with club players playing for a month, in April, and you mightn’t play for a few more months.
"Looking back, it was crazy.
"For the vast majority of people it’s working very well".
Loughmore begin their FBD Insurance County Senior Hurling Championship campaign against Templederry in Borrisoleigh at 6.45pm this Saturday evening, with their remaining group games against Holycross/Ballycahill and Upperchurch/Drombane being played in the following weeks.
They begin their football championship campaign against Moycarkey/Borris in Gortnahoe at 7.30pm on Friday, August 4.
