Captains' Prizes - Pauline wins ladies - Men’s results still awaited
The Gents got the best of the weekend, weather-wise, as the rain mostly cooperated for the Friday and Saturday Qualifiers, and those who did qualify mostly managed to complete their round before the weather changed on Sunday.
Rain started to fall just as the Ladies took to the course on Sunday. However, nothing could dampen their enthusiasm and the day was a resounding success full of high spirits and good humour, which spilled over into the clubhouse later as they tucked into some delicious eats thanks to Paula Cahill and Ciara Brennan.
We are still awaiting the official results from the Gents’ Competition so will include them in next week’s report.
On the Ladies side, a delighted Pauline Lucey was the overall winner with a great score of 41 (new tee boxes notwithstanding), and indeed she has been playing great golf the past few months.
Breda Foley was runner-up on 38 points. Catherine Cooney took gross on 14 points. Teresa O’Brien was 3rd on 37 points. Una Creed fourth on 32 points and Helen Clinton fifth on 31 points.
Carmel William won the front 9 on 18 points while Kathy Cleary won the Back 9 on 16 points.
Carmel Condon won the Past Captain’s Prize on 31 points.
Marian Power took the Committee Prize on 30 points and Marian also won the Longest Drive.
Meanwhile Ann Maher won the 9 Hole Stableford Competition on 19 points.
While everyone enjoyed the golf, it was the after-party where the real fun began and Lady Captain Ann O’Dea was finally able to relax with her family and bask in the knowledge of a job well done.
