Collette wins Lady Captain's Prize in a canter at County Tipperary

Captains Prize 2023
Captain Darren Hayes & Lady Captain Jacinta Coman had a wonderful Captains Prize despite some inclement weather their weekend was a huge success. The presentation of prizes on Sunday night was supported by an excellent turn out of members including the families of both Jacinta and Darren. The atmosphere in the Venue was electric to celebrate with them and pay tribute to two excellent Captains. Both Darren and Jacinta said how honoured they were to be Captains of Co Tipperary Golf & Country Club.
Lady Captain Jacinta thanked Niamh Chadwick for nominating her as her Vice Captain and giving her such a wonderful opportunity to be Captain. She thanked her husband James and all her family for their generous support. She thanked her Vice-Captain Mary O’Donnell for all her support.
Captain Darren thanked Brian Slattery for asking him to be his Vice-Captain and giving him the honour of been Captain of this fantastic club. Captain Darren thanked his partner Siobhan and his family for their wonderful support for him. He thanked his vice-captain Daniel Kennedy for his support and wished him well in the future.
Both Darren and Jacinta thanked their hard working committees who are so helpful to them and support them throughout the year. They were very complementary towards each other which show in the excellent commutation and team work for the benefit of the club and its members. They thanked Dundrum House proprietors Jeff and Winnieanna for their financial investment in the golf resort and their generous sponsorship towards the many charitable projects run by the club. They thanked Brian Webster and the staff that keep our course at such a high standard. They thanked Our Golf Professionals Marian Riordan and Colin O’Gorman for the excellent work they do coaching our young members and the not-so-young, also thanks to Mary in the golf shop and recently joined Evan. They thanked Richard Nolan and the staff in the Venue for their excellent and courteous service.
They thanked the many club officers who did so much work to make their Captain’s Prize such a success.
The first to present the Captain’s Prize was Lady Captain Jacinta;
The winner of the Lady Captain’s Prize for 2023 presented by Captain Jacinta Coman was Collette O’Dwyer with an excellent score over two days of 136. In 2nd place Sheena Ryan with 141. Best Gross went to Frances Boyle with 168 gross. In 3rd place Patricia Moran with 144. 4th Margaret O’Connell 146. 5th Marie O’Connor 147 . 6th Libby Ryan 147. Past Captain’s prize went to Geraldine Ryan 149 & the Committee prize went to Helena Ryan 153.
18-hole competition winner was 1 Niamh Chadwick with a 66. In 2nd place Kathleen O’Neill with 71.

18-hole Stableford;
The winner of the 18-hole Stableford was over two days Maura Crosse with 63 pts. The winner of the first 18-hole was Kitty Byrne with 31 pts. The winner of the second 18-hole was Rena Ryan with 30 pts.
9-hole Stableford
The winner of the 9-hole Stableford was Phyllis Heffernan and in 2nd place Rose Smith.
