Rowing: It's time to get behind Clonmel's Daire Lynch for the World Championships

Cappoquin regatta was a great end to Clonmel Rowing Club's regatta season, bringing together both the young and seasoned crew members.

The juniors and masters even combined to produce a great performance in the mixed open octet.  That's men and women in an '8' with two sculling oars as opposed to the usual one sweep oar.

The Cappoquin Regatta once again demonstrated the depth of talent across all age groups in the club.
On arrival at the course on the majestic River Blackwater,  the crews got to work on yet another rainy summer's day to prepare their boats. This camaraderie continued as the crews helped each other launch on the water and there was plenty of support on the bank for Clonmel crews as they contested a hectic schedule of races. 
The masters and juniors rowed a 400m course and the open events were run over 800m, a race against the tide well executed by our wonderful regatta hosts. 
Clonmel were all winners on the day but medals were awarded to Rory Kelly 1x, Kate Meehan in a  Clonmel/Cappoquin composite 2x, Anna Kiely 1x, Paul Nugent masters 1x. Nell McCarthy scored a double winning womens masters 1x and then teaming up with Michelle Gregory to take the womens masters 2x.

ROWING CAMP
Clonmel Rowing Club have a rowing camp from Tuesday, August 15 to Thursday, August 18, 10 am to 1 pm.
Now that the Irish ladies soccer team have returned from Australia, it's time for all Irish supporters to turn their attention to Daire Lynch who will be rowing in the World Championships in Belgrade in early September.  Daire is unquestionably the best rower who has come out of Clonmel in the 154 years of the  history of the  club and he has a great chance of making the A final, and dare we dream maybe more.
