Tipperary's Ava Rochford reaches high jump final at European Under 20 Athletics Championships

Ava Rochford has qualified for the final tomorrow, Wednesday

Ava Rochford was one of four Irish athletes who advanced to finals on the opening day of action at the European Under 20 Athletics Championships in Jerusalem, Israel.

With only twelve athletes advancing to the final of the Women’s High Jump, the Nenagh Olympic AC athlete knew she needed to deliver a big performance.

The 17-year-old did exactly that, equalling her personal best with a 1.80 metres second attempt clearance.

Rochford will now be hoping to soar to new heights in Wednesday evening’s final.
