OUR RIVER PROJECT 2023/2024
The Ballylooby Community Council are seeking to engage with the public about an ambitious river project.

Members of the public are invited to attend a public meeting in the community hall on Sunday August  20 at 11.30am to meet membes of Ballylooby Community Council  and project designer Amy Jennings (Hort. BA, Botany B. Sc., Bio Conservation MA) to discuss the plans and give your thoughts / ideas for your community river trail, village garden and play area.

A  grant in 2023 of €15,000 to develop a green space in the village. The grant was from AXA through the Community Foundation for Ireland.

The  plan is to develop a river trail, village garden and play area along by the river Thonoge as we see a huge potential for this area. The  council has engaged expert assistance to help  on this project, from this it has been recognised the need to restore the river to reduce erosion of the river bank and reduce risk of flooding to the community.

The council also see the opportunity at the same time to create a space for the community to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
