Killea Community Funday was a massive success this summer

The 14th annual Killea Community Funday and Feile Margaret O’Sullivan took place in the village on Sunday June 25th last.

A huge turnout made it a very successful day with a hundred and one different things to do at the Funday.

There was music galore too with the Cill Shleibhe Comhaltas Branch doing a great job organising all the wonderfully talented musicians, dancers and singers who came from near and far, performed so well on the stage and brought a great buzz to the occasion.

As did the Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band who were led by Pipe Major Joe Barry. The Band have been a huge part of this day for many years and have always been very supportive for the community.

The organisers would like to congratulate the band on reaching their 60th birthday and wish them a very enjoyable trip to Scotland this weekend.

There was a great display of treats on offer as always in the tea tent at the event and massive thanks are due to the wonderful ladies helping out made sure everyone was fed and watered.

Special thanks are extened to all those who donated sandwiches and confectionery. The day would not have been possible without the brilliant work of our Funday/Feile committee, all of the helpers who volunteered in the lead up to the event and on the day itself, and also the many business people who provided sponsorship for the event.

The organisers are grateful too to all those who turned up on the day to support the event. They were delighted to see everyone and look forward to doing it all again in 2024. The day raised €13,000 which will benefit seven local organisations.
