Young Roscrea songwriter makes waves in a sea of uncertainty

Roscrea's Jack Keeshan is getting high praise

For a music session with a difference check out the Black Mills Sessions which roll back into centre stage this Friday night when the society in Roscrea will host Jack Keeshan and Shea Oran McGurnaghan.

Jack and Shea will share the stage with St Cronan’s High Cross, a fascinating relic that once sat in a graveyard across the road from the Black Mills.

The Black Mills is full of history and dates from the first half of the 18th century. It is located near the 11th century round tower and the 12th century Romanesque church.

The acoustic properties of the mill make an ideal venue to host music performances. A proud Roscrea native, Jack Keeshan is not just some other young fellow with a guitar strung round his shoulder.

His story telling style of passionate music is fired by a deep need to share an authentic message of self-worth and love with fellow human beings. This young man has an amazing gift to communicate through song and spoken word.

Word of his brilliance has spread: “For someone so young, Jack Keeshan’s writing prowess is beyond his years” said Roddie Cleere of the KCLR/Irish Music Show while Darren Keegan of the Midlands Tribune said:

“Jacks songs touch on the metaphysical and his early music has the echoes of titans running through it. It has Leonard Cohen’s fingerprints, the scent of the best of Bob Dylan and at its core is an inimitable gentleness and ease that makes it instantly endearing.”

Shea Oran McGurnaghan is a singer songwriter hailing from Belfast. His style of hooky indie pop is fused with a melodic vocal that draws the listener in.

The style of writing that Shea brings to the table is very much a blend of multiple styles of guitar playing; he is a song writer with a very unique flare for his craft. The society is looking forward to what promises to be a very enjoyable evening with Jack and Shea.
