Charles Kickham Remembrance Day in Mullinahone

This year’s Kickham Remembrance Day will take place on this Sunday, August 27 with mass at 10 after which there will be an oration and a wreath laying ceremony at Kickham’s grave. This year’s dedication will be delivered by Walter Power, historian and writer of Nine Mile House.

The Kickham walkers will lead a walk from Knocknagow Community Centre to Kickham’s Tree setting out at 11. This year the route will be via Kickham’s House in Fethard Street, on by Isertkieran Graveyard, Cappanagarrane and the Five Eyed Bridge to Gurteen (8.5Km). Here well-known actor Michael Somers will entertain us with some readings from Knocknagow with music provided by John Bermingham. This session at Kickham’s Tree is expected to start at around 1 pm.

Afterwards walkers will return to the Community Centre in Mullinahone by the main road (6Km). Refreshments will be provided there to round off the day’s events.

Everybody is welcome to attend any or all of the events as they see fit. We advise walkers to park at the Community Centre before they start out.
