Following this morning's announcement, the Electoral Commission, has recommended amongst other things, that County Tipperary is to be split into two three-seater constituencies, a change from the full-county five-seater constituency of recent years.
Among the key points of the announcement, the Electoral Commission has recommended that the number of TDs in Dáil Éireann is be increased from 160 to 174.
There will also be an increase in the number of constituencies from the current 39 up to 43.
Only seven constituencies remain unchanged Clare, Cork South West, Donegal, Dublin Central, Kerry, Limerick County and Waterford.
These recommendations have been made by the commission in its Constituency Review 2023, which has been submitted to the Houses of the Oireachtas.
The changes were deemed necessary to take account of an 8% increase in population since 2016. There are now more than 5.15 million people living in Ireland.
The five TDs currently serving the full county of Tipperary are: Deputies Michael Lowry, Martin Browne, Mattie McGrath, Alan Kelly and Jackie Cahill.
