Clonmel Credit Union League Division 2

Rosegreen Rangers 3 – 4 Moyglass United

These teams were playing their first game of the season at a sun drenched and splendid looking Nijinsky Park in Rosegreen on Sunday morning, and the watching supporters got full value for their money with a seven-goal thriller that was just edged by the visiting side.
The game started off at a lively pace for the first ten minutes, with both sides having chances before the home side took the lead when a Seanie Halloran shot from outside box fizzed to the bottom corner of the net.
It was 1-1 after 25 minutes when Moyglass United were awarded and scored a penalty kick, and although both teams continued to create chances for the rest of the half, there were to be no more goals.
The hosts got the better start in the second period and retook the lead ten minutes in when Keith Bergin fired home from just inside the visitors’ area, but Moyglass United took control for the next 15 minutes and scored to level on the 70th minute mark.
Five minutes later, Aidan O’Connell took advantage of a scramble in the area to poke Rosegreen Rangers back in front for the third time in the game, but the visitors finished the stronger and added two goals in the final ten minutes, one a header from a corner kick and a winner that was walloped into the roof of the net from all of 20 yards out to secure the three points.
