The scene at the Sologhead monument this morning.
A road near Sologhead Cross in west Tipperary is currently closed and the area a hive activitity following the location of a hand grenade during roadworks this morning.
The grenade, perhaps from the War of Independence period, was found near the Sologhead monument while the County Council were doing repairs work on the road.
The bomb response unit is on the way from Cork to the scene. The Gardai have the area cordoned off for the safety of the public.
The road in question is off the main Tipperary to Limerick road and that traffic flow is unaffected by this morning's development.
