Man (50s) brought before court charged in connection with Carrick-on-Suir stabbing assault

A Romanian man appeared before Cashel District Court on Sunday charged in connection with the stabbing of another Romanian man in Carrick-on-Suir town centre last Thursday.

The stabbing occurred at the Westgate in Carrick-on-Suir around 9pm on September 21.

The victim, who is aged in his 30s, suffered a stomach injury and was taken to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel. A Garda spokesman said the injury was not life threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital.

A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested by gardaí shortly after the incident and detained at Clonmel Garda Station for questioning. He was brought before a special sitting of Cashel Court on Sunday charged with assault causing harm.

He was granted bail with strict conditions and remanded to appear before a sitting of Carrick-on-Suir District Court in October
