Farm families encouraged to attend IFA election debate in Tipperary

The election debate will be held at 8pm next Thursday, October 5, in the Horse and Jockey Hotel, Thurles

South Tipperary IFA Chairperson Pat Carroll is encouraging farm families to attend the IFA President and Deputy President Election Debate next Thursday October 5, in the Horse and Jockey Hotel, Thurles at 8pm.

He says that this is a great opportunity for all members to engage with the candidates and to discuss the priorities for 2024 - 2027.

The two candidates contesting the Presidency of IFA are Francie O’Gorman from Laois and Martin Stapleton from Limerick.

Deputy President candidates are Alice Doyle from Wexford and Pat Murphy from Galway.

The South Tipperary chairman said farmers, like everyone, are very conscious there is an issue with climate change, and are playing their part to reduce emissions, protect water quality and safeguard biodiversity.

"As set out in Food Vision 2030, there must be a balance between environmental, economic and social sustainability".

Pat Carroll said it's important that there's good support on the night for the candidates and to discuss the challenges and concerns in farming and the agri-food industry.
