Filming for The Wayfinders taking place in Cahir
Cahir Castle has once again been the location for filming as huge numbers of cast
and crew arrived into town to film scenes for a new conceptual pilot episode of
a show called The Wayfinders.
They had previously been filming in Cashel where many people turned up to watch the action. The whole ensemble then travelled to Cahir where they set up last week with filming continuing late into the night with huge spotlights set up in the Inch Filed as well as across the river from the Castle in the old mill to light up the scenes being shot on
the night.
With food trucks set up in the car park the cast dressed in medieval
costumes and the crew were well looked after.
Cahir Castle has become very popular for filming in recent times with ‘The Green
Knight’ and ‘The last Dual’ being the most recent. In 2022 Cahir Castle won the
European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) Location Award for 2021.
Nominated by Screen Ireland as the location for The Green Knight, Cahir Castle won
by public vote against four other shortlisted European film locations in Norway
(Dune), Spain (The Crown), Croatia (Murina) and Germany (The Queen’s Gambit).
The award was announced at the Berlinale’s European Film Market in February,
2022.
