It's down to the final four teams in the Tipperary County Senior Football Championship

The Tipperary County Senior Football Championship semi-finals will be played this Saturday and Sunday

The line-up for the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Football Championship final will be decided this weekend when the semi-finals are played.

Holders and championship favourites Clonmel will meet Moyle Rovers in Ardfinnan at 2pm on Sunday, while the other semi-final between JK Brackens and Upperchurch/Drombane goes ahead on Saturday in The Ragg at 4pm.

It will be an upset if Clonmel Commercials don’t reach another final. They have breezed their way through the championship so far, with Colman Kennedy, Seamus Kennedy, Michael Quinlivan and Kevin Fahey all in top form.

However, they can’t afford to take anything for granted against neighbours Moyle Rovers, who caused a shock in the quarter-final by beating Loughmore/Castleiney, courtesy of a late Ben Owens point.

Rovers flirted with elimination from the championship at the group stage but thanks to players such as Liam Boland, Cathal McKeown, Jack Harney and Riain Quigley they have found a new lease of life and will relish the challenge in this local derby.

Last year’s beaten finalists Upperchurch/Drombane held their nerve to beat Kilsheelan/Kilcash in a penalty shootout in the quarter-final.

Paul and Luke Shanahan, Ger Grant, Keith Ryan, Dean Carew, Aaron Ryan and company will be anxious to prove that last year’s final appearance wasn’t a flash in the pan.

With players of the calibre of Paddy Cadell, Cathal Scully, Jack Kennedy and Conor Cadell in their ranks, JK Brackens are a force to be reckoned with, and another close game is in prospect here.
