Big day for Tipperary man well-known on the traditional music scene

Pictured above is Darragh Carey Kennedy of Kennedy Park Roscrea who recently was conferred with a Professional Master's in Education with First Class Honours at a conferring ceremony in the University of Limerick. 

Indeed, Darragh is no stranger to academic awards having already been honoured with a B.A. First Class Honours in Irish Music in 2021.

He has also been the recipient of an Associate Diploma and a Fellowship Diploma from the London college of Music in 2014 and 2016.

In fact, he still remains the youngest candidate to achieve such honours. He also received a Comhaltas T.T.C.T. teaching Certificate with advanced honours again he was the youngest candidate to receive this honour on his chosen instrument in 2018.

Darragh is well-known on the traditional music scene having the distinction of competing in every All Ireland Fleadh from 2007 to 2019 inclusive gaining many awards together with two Michael Ó hEidin  medals.

He is also a member of the famous Bru Boru group based in Cashel. 

Darragh is a past pupil of Corville N.S and Colaiste Phobal Roc-Cre, he has taken up a teaching post at Colaiste Phobal Bantry Co. Cork, and is wished much success for the future.
