Lee O'Riordan's three goals helped Cashel Town secure a 5-1 win
Cashel Town 5 – 1 Killavilla United
Cashel welcomed North Tipperary side Killavilla to Palmershill on Sunday in the second round of the FAI Junior Cup with a certain amount of trepidation, but that was misplaced when they ran out easy winners over the in-form NTDL side.
The home team had a fast start to thank for laying the foundations of their win and they flew out of the blocks, opening the scoring in the tenth minute when Kyle Ryan tucked away a nice finish after some good build-up play.
It was two five minutes later when a really good passing move was finished by Ryan again, with his movement causing Killavilla all sorts of problems. Dominant now, they made it three on the half-hour mark when Lee O’Riordan finished off a well-worked short corner routine.
On the stroke of half time, the game was pretty much put to bed as a contest when Cashel got a fourth when O’Riordan was on the scoresheet again, finishing tidily after getting in behind the Killavilla defence.
The second half was a closer affair, with the visitors sticking to their task despite being behind, and they pulled a goal back after 65 minutes when Ian Treacy netted.
However, Cashel were never going to give up their stranglehold on the game and added a fifth five minutes from time when Lee O’Riordan completed his hat trick, to send his side through to the next round.
