Clonmel Town 3 – 1 Cullen Lattin

This game was evenly matched in the opening quarter of an hour, with Clonmel Town having the best chance when a Paul Maher effort came back off the crossbar.

The deadlock was broken in the 18th minute when Maher crossed a dangerous ball into the box that wasn’t fully dealt with by the Cullen Lattin defence and was pounced on by Jack Burns, who clinically finished to the bottom corner.

Cullen reacted well to going behind and had a few chances cleared before they finally levelled when Seanie Bourke went on a mazy run to waltz past the home back line and slot past the ‘keeper.

That was how the first half ended, but Town came out with more intent in the early period of the second.

Adam Johnson tested the ‘keeper early on, and although Joe Howard in the Cullen goal made some excellent saves, he was eventually beaten by a Jack Burns effort for his and his side’s second goal.

Town got the cushion they wanted late on when Burns completed his hat trick with a first time shot.
