Tipperary GAA lost one of its most dedicated supporters on Thursday 19 October with the passing of London-based Lorrha native Tom Milne.
The entire London Irish community has been saddened since the news broke of Tom’s passing to his eternal reward at Barnet Hospital that morning after a sudden illness. Just days after celebrating his 79th birthday Tom’s legacy will remain forever with the many people who were privileged to know him.
Despite battling illness for a number of years Tom’s bravery never affected his demeanor towards life in general. A popular, colourful, and habitually jovial figure in so many strands of Irish community life since he first arrived in London in the early 60s, Tom’s main interest away from the dedication to his family was his unstinting love of sport from golf and horse-racing and particularly GAA.
He was involved with Bros. Pearse GAA for decades but will always be remembered for being a true friend and supporter of Tipperary GAA all his life. And it was that level of devotion to the Premier County that saw him being awarded with a Laochra Gael award in 2017.
Details of Tom’s funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam.
