There are plans to provide a new pedestrian crossing on the Cashel Road in Clonmel, on the hill on the northern side of the Cashel Road roundabout at Ard Gaoithe.
Proposals for the area also include the extension of the existing cycle lanes as far as the Cashel Road Roundabout on the eastern side of the road, near the Longfield housing estate.
Gillian Flynn, Senior Executive Engineer with Tipperary County Council, told The Nationalist that infrastructure for the new town bus will also be provided on the road.
Ms Flynn told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that eleven submissions had been received on the proposals.
All the issues raised were discussed at two workshops.
She told Cllr Pat English that the plan was to apply for funding and go to construction next year.
It would likely be a project for 2024-25.
The council would apply for funding to implement both this scheme and the traffic changes near the Gaelscoil in Irishtown, Clonmel, although there was no guarantee that the council would receive the funding, she stated.
