TS&DL Youths League Division 2
Two Mile Borris 4 – 3 Clonmel Town
Borris entertained Clonmel Town in the Second Division of the Youths League on Saturday and came away with a win by a single goal in a seven-goal thriller.
The hosts opened the scoring through Cian Dwyer after some great football midway through the first half, and looked like they were going to see it out to the break in the lead. But Town got back on terms just before half time.
They then took the lead five minutes after the restart, but Borris replied brilliantly through Eric Garcia and inside the next ten minutes got two quickfire goals through Lorcan Bourke and Cian Dwyer, to put themselves in total control.
Clonmel Town got a third late on, and put the hosts under pressure in the later stages of the game, but Borris held on to take all three points.
Mullinahone 3 – 0 Galbally United
This game was played in testing conditions on a heavy pitch, which made it difficult for both teams to really get a hold of the game.
The first chance fell to Liam Doyle in the 18th minute when a loose goal kick fell to the Mullinahone player but his effort failed to hit the target.
Mullinahone took the lead minutes later after a free kick from the right hand side was headed back across the goal by Michael Cuddihy and was turned home by Colin O’Brien.
Galbally then had a flurry of corners but were unable to make a breakthrough.
Both teams struggled for the rest of the half to create any real chances and the home side went in at half time a goal up.
The second half saw an improvement in Mullinahone and they made a number of good chances, with one goal being ruled out for offside.
They finally made their pressure pay 15 minutes from time when Michael Cuddihy sent Liam Doyle through on goal and he made no mistake in finding the net.
Two quickly became three when Adam Doyle beat two players in the Galbally area, and squared it across the face of the goal for Liam Doyle to tap home.
