Folk musician and singer Dónal Clancy

Folk singer and musician Dónal Clancy will perform his Folk ‘n Blues Revue gig at Carrick-on-Suir’s Nano Nagle Community Centre’s Chapel on Saturday, November 18.

Carrick-on-Suir’s Tudor Artisan Hub is hosting the concert by the highly acclaimed singer and guitarist, who is son of the late Liam Clancy of the famous Clancy Brothers ballad group.

Dónal is following in his father’s footsteps and forged a reputation as one of Ireland’s top ballad/folk singers. He is also a serious Blues music student and aficionado.

His new show comprises classic Blues songs, and Bluesy arrangements of well-known songs. Dónal, who is a great teller of tales, will take you on a journey where you will learn a little history about each song along with his own personal connection to them.

The show includes songs from Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Cotton, Jackson C. Frank, Big Bill Broonzy and Rev. Gary Davis, along with a few of Dónal’s own original compositions.

You will hear brilliant bluesy versions of Mr Bojangles, Candy Man, Dirty Old Town, Blues Run The Game,  among many others.

This show really highlights Donál’s amazing guitar playing and blues vocals. This very special concert takes place in the intimate Chapel venue at the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre at Clancy House, which is named after the Clancy Brothers.

The centre is just a stone’s throw away from the Clancy family home at William Street.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the show commences at 8pm. Dónal will perform for 90 minutes without an interval.

Tickets cost €20 and are now on sale at the Tudor Artisan Hub at 42 Main Street.

You can book by phoning (051) 640921/086 2560609 or call into the Hub.

Tickets are sold on a cash only basis and must be paid in advance to secure your seat. Seating is limited, so don’t delay in buying your ticket.
