The final throws in at 1pm
Nenagh CBS are looking to make history this afternoon when they play St Flannan’s College, Ennis in the prestigious Dean Ryan Cup final in Kilmallock this Friday at 1.00pm.
Tipperary CBS (Abbey), Cashel CBS, and Our Lady’s Secondary School Templemore have all claimed the honours over the years so will Nenagh join the prestigious group this year?
The Munster Post Primary Schools Junior ‘A’ Hurling final is always a sweet one to win and Thurles CBS are still at the top of roll of honour's list until today at least, when St Flannan’s look to draw level with them on 14 titles.
Only Nenagh stand in the Ennis school's way, where Nenagh's run to the final has been impressive. They beat Rice College of Ennis in the quarter final before beating De La Salle of Waterford 3-8 to 1-12 in the semi final.
'Flannans' toppled Ardscoil Ris from Limerick in their quarter final and buoyed up by their win over the defending champions they accounted easily for Midleton CBS in the semi final.
The competition is now played at Under 17 level, having previously, like the Kinane Cup, being played at under 16 ½ level for many decades.
The game is live streamed on Munster GAA TV and you can watch the action here: https://munstergaapps.ie/2023/11/2023-2024-tus-munster-gaa-dean-ryan-cup-under-17-a-hurling-final-st-flannans-v-nenagh-cbs/
