Cashel Town had a good away win against Peake Villa in Thurles on Sunday last in the Clonmel Credit Union League Division 1
Clonmel Credit Union League Division 1
PEAKE VILLA 0 – 3 CASHEL TOWN
Villa’s second team came off second best on Sunday morning when they fell to defeat against a very strong Cashel Town outfit.
On a lovely morning for football at the Tower Grounds, Cashel fashioned the first big chance when they almost opened the scoring in the ninth minute, only to be thwarted by David Purcell in the Villa goal.
But even Purcell couldn’t keep Cashel out three minutes later when Kyle Ryan scored after hitting the home side on the break.
Peake settled after this, without creating too much against a solid Cashel defence, and the game went to half time with no more scores.
In the second half Villa pressed again, trying to get back into the game, but they conceded from a corner in the 53rd minute when Darragh Browne reacted quickest to a breaking ball to score from close range.
They secured the three points in the 62nd minute when Ciaran Fitzpatrick got on the end of a free kick to make it 3-0.
It was a frustrating day for Villa, with nothing really going their way, but take nothing away from Cashel, who fully deserved the win.
