A 12-year-old boy who reached out to the Tipperary Museum to hand over a pair of horse racing goggles given to him by the legendary Rachael Blackmore has been praised for his selfless gesture.
Daniel Goldbach, a 5th year student at St Marys CBS in Clonmel, is a big horse racing enthusiast and he cherished the goggles Rachael Blackmore presented to him.

The young Clonmel student has been making a name for himself since Covid with a series of You Tube interviews and interviews he has started to do during Covid.
He has a keeninterest incurrent affairs and in his community and his approach to Rachael Blackmore for an interview was met with great generosity.

The Killenaule legend invived Dylan to accompany her on a behind the scenes day out at Thurles racecourse recently. After a most enjoyable day Rachael presented Dylan with the goggles she wore racing that day.
Shortly after , aware that the Tipperary Museum did not have items for display concerning one of Tipperary’s great sporting heroes, Dylan wrote a letter to Marie McMahone, Managing Curator at the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History offering the goggles to her.

“Any other boy might have kept the goggles, however, Dylan went one step further and wrote a letter offering the goggles to the museum. Dylan has been a huge supporter of Tipperary Museum and has offered advice to me on many occasions. The letter was beautifully written and sincere. I promised Dylan I would arrange to display the goggles at the museum in late Autumn,” said Marie McMahon.
Dylan is a son of Bernie and Ruth who settled in Clonmel in the early 2000’s.

Bernard is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and he moved to Ireland following a career as a US military pilot.
Ruth is originally from Dublin and works as an IS project leader in Tipperary County Council.
Bernard works as a lecturer in TUS University(LIT, Clonmel.

Both are keenly interested in technology and encouraged Dylan to start making his You Tube videos during Covid as Dylan was always interest in what people were doing in the community.
The invterview started with the local postman and Dylan was delighted that Rachael Blackmore agreed to be interviewed.
“It has been a huge confidence builder for Dylan to contact and interview people he is interested in. It also helps him with his school work, preparing the questions and carrying out the research,” said Ruth.
Dylan’s kindness in offering the goggles was also acknowledged by RTE earlier this month when Dylan, along with Tipperary Museum staff, appeared on the Today Show.

The Tipperary Museum had been contacted by Museum was contacted by RTE’s the Today Show to bring artefacts relating to Tipperary’s social history and vernacular furniture, to the studio.

Marie McMahon, rewarding Dylan for his kindness, included the goggles in the items for display during the programme.
Marie McMahon and Jayne Sutcliffe from the museum then met with historian and author Claudia Kinmonth who would be presenting the Treasures of Ireland slot on RTE, and selected objects from their vast collection.
“Claudia was so impressed with Dylan’s kind gesture, she wanted to include the storybehind the donation. The museum team travelled to Cork and with the help of their technician David Nolan, they set up the display in the Cork studio,” said Marie McMahon.
