Noreen Condon and crew are flat out at the recent hugely successful Tapas Night in Clogheen
The community event "Tapas Night" held at Clogheen Community Hall was a resounding success, drawing a large and diverse crowd from the local community and beyond. The event, which took place on Saturday last, November 25 was organised by the Clogheen Community Council, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the evening would be both enjoyable and memorable for all who attended.
The Tapas Night, originating from Spanish cuisine, involves serving a wide variety of small, flavorful dishes that are meant to be shared and enjoyed in a social setting. This concept was embraced by the organisers of the event, who saw it as an opportunity to bring people together over a shared love of food and community and a glass of wine and a signing chef!!
The evening began with an inviting ambiance as the community hall was adorned with colourful decorations, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all attendees. The organisers had put considerable effort into the presentation of the hall, with thoughtfully arranged seating and lighting that set the stage for a delightful evening.
One of the key elements of the evening was the food itself. The organisers had arranged for a diverse selection of tapas-style dishes, ranging from traditional Spanish fare to creative interpretations of international cuisines. The menu featured an array of small plates, including classics such as patatas bravas, cheese boards, loaded nachos paella with prawns and lots of sweet treats.

The culinary team, comprised of both professional chefs Vera Meehan and Mary O’Keeffe and talented community cooks such as Katy McGrath, worked diligently to prepare and present the dishes with care and attention to detail. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully plated, adding to the overall sensory experience of the evening.
In addition to the delectable food, the event also featured live music and entertainment, further enhancing the festive atmosphere. Our singing chef Cathal Boyle stole the show on the night and was just brilliant. Everyone just loved the surprise of a singing chef.
The success of Tapas Night can also be attributed to the strong sense of community spirit that was palpable throughout the event. Volunteers, including members of local organisations and businesses, came together to support the event, offering their time, resources, and expertise to ensure its success. We would like to thank Cashel Blue Cheese, Crossogue Preserves, Cooleeney Cheese, Praline Desserts Mitchelstown, and Sweet Bee’s Fudge.
The impact of Tapas Night extended beyond the event itself, as it served as a catalyst for fostering a greater sense of unity and camaraderie within Clogheen and its surrounding areas. The positive feedback and enthusiastic participation from attendees underscored the value of such community- driven initiatives, highlighting the potential for future events to continue building upon this momentum.
Tapas Night at Clogheen Community Hall proved to be a resounding success, bringing together people from all walks of life to savour delicious food, enjoy lively entertainment, and celebrate the spirit of community. The event exemplified the power of communal effort and shared experiences in creating meaningful connections and leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to be a part of it.
As the echoes of laughter and conversation from that memorable evening lingered, it became clear that Tapas Night had not only delighted the senses but also enriched the fabric of the community, leaving a legacy of togetherness and goodwill that would endure long after the last bite of tapas had been savoured.
Well done to all involved!
