Community Employment Scheme in Tipperary receives national award

The National Salmon Hero award is presented each year to one community group that carries out outstanding river conservation work.

Salmon Watch Ireland presented the award to Simon Molloy, Clonmel Tourism Community Employment Scheme Supervisor, who accepted this accolade of behalf of the participants and the committee of this scheme, which is operation over 30 years.

The river conservation work was the brainchild of the late John Corbett, who passed away last year, and Simon dedicated the award to his memory.

Maura Stapleton, Tommy Norris, Franz Beckers and Michael Kiely continue as sponsors of the scheme that carries on John Corbett’s legacy.
