Dublin Cork Limerick M7/M8 toll plaza near Portlaoise

Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy has hit out at the increase in toll charges due to come into place on January 1

The Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy has said that increasing toll fees again on  January 1 is outrageous and said there can be no justification for the move.

Cllr Molloy is calling on the Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan to reverse this decision.

"This move will only encourage trucks and many motorists to start avoiding motorways.Tolls on ten routes around the country, including the M50 and the Dublin Tunnel, are set to increase in the new year. From 1 January, most car tolls are increasing by 20 cent per journey and heavy good vehicles tolls by 30 to 50 cent per journey. On the M1, M7, M8, N6, N25 at Waterford and N18 Limerick Tunnel, the toll for cars is up 20c to €2.30. On the M3, it is up 10c to €1.70, and on the M4 there is a 20c increase for cars to €3.40," he said.
