Clonmel students combine to bring festive cheer to the town

aul Walsh of Royseven will perform at the Christmas market at the Kickham Plaza

Excitement is mounting as Clonmel hosts its first outdoor Christmas Market on the stunning Kickham Plaza.
With over 40 stands, free Santa grotto, coffee, hot chocolate, home baking and live entertainment it promises to be a magical event.

COMMUNITY
This community initiative is the brainchild of our young people who appreciate the beauty and splendour of the Kickham Plaza.
They feel it is an ideal location for local businesses and crafts people to showcase their products as well as giving young and old an opportunity to meet up, have a chat, browse around the stalls and listen to beautiful music.

The students were stunned during the week when Paul Walsh (Royseven) reached out to say he will travel from Dublin to perform on the plaza with students from his own alma mater, CBS High School, Clonmel.
Paul grew up in a family of musicians and performers in Clonmel and is well known all over Europe and has made several TV appearances.

The markets will open on Saturday December 16 at 12pm. The renowned St Peter & Paul’s Primary School band will entertain the crowd with a selection of Christmas songs at 2.30pm.
At 3.30 a Ukrainian choir made up of adults and children will perform.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS
At 5pm the four secondary schools in Clonmel will come together to perform a Christmas Carol Service along with Fr Treacy.
On Saturday December 17 the markets will open again at 12pm with Paul Walsh performing at 1pm.
St Mary’s Primary School Choir is going to pop in and sing some Christmas carols at 2.30pm and this will be followed by individual performances from our young people.
The market will close at 5pm to the sound of a music group made up of students.

FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE
While all this entertainment is taking place people can mingle and browse around the stalls that will be selling home baking, candles, honey, crystals, cheese, jewellery, wood turning, decorations, floral arrangements, skin care products, books, fragrances, art work, crochet toys and much more.

It is hoped that the whole community will come together to soak up the festive atmosphere, buy some gifts and enjoy the entertainment provided by the younger people of Clonmel.
