Dylan Slevin makes his bow in the PDC World Darts Championships this weekend

This Sunday is is a big one for darts fans across Tipperary as Borrisokane’s Dylan Slevin will make his debut at the PDC World Darts Championships.

It has been a long road for the 20-year-old who will make his bow against the player ranked 58 in the world, Florian Hempel.

Over the last six months Slevin has made steady progress and has been qualifying for the finals of major tournaments so there is no fear of stage fright on Sunday evening.

The German will be favourite in what will be the first match of the evening session in their round 1 meeting at the Alexandra Palace in London however Slevin, ranked 88 in the world, has shown he is a quick learner.

The action is expected to get underway at 7.15pm on Sunday evening and the winner will progress to play Dimitri Van den Bergh from Belgium - ranked 15 - in the second round next Friday. 

The tournament gets underway this evening (Friday) with world number one Michael Smith putting his title on the line against Dutchman Kevin Doets or Stowe Buntz.

The tournament will run until January the 3rd  next, 2024, when the final takes place.
