A new planning application for the redevelopment of the former Clonmel Arms as a hotel will be submitted in the New Year, Cllr Michael Murphy has stated.
He said that a design team had been appointed and changes would be made to the planning permission that had been previously granted.
Cllr Murphy said that Sarsfield Developments Ltd., the new owners of the Clonmel Arms, were very grateful to Carol Creighton, District Administrator of Clonmel Borough District, and Adam Coffey, Executive Engineer with Tipperary County Council, for their "extremely proactive engagement prior to and since taking over the site".
He said that this had greatly facilitated the speed of the demolition, which is continuing at the town centre site which straddles Sarsfield Street, the Quay and O'Connell Street.
Carol Creighton said that the new owners of the Clonmel Arms and the contractors on site were just as approachable and had worked well with the council.
