Tipperary inter-schools gymnastics competition a huge hit

The first inter-schools gymnastics competition that was inaugurated last year between the Ursuline and the Presentation Clonmel is now into its second year thanks to the hard work of UCT PE teacher Helen Claire Fahey and Presentation coach Sinéad Millea.

On Monday, December 11, the very talented gymnasts from both schools competed for individual and team medals.

Thanks to former Ursuline PE teacher, Ms Annette Kelly, who came in to judge the very high standard floor routines.

The UCT medal winners on the day included Abbey Young, who took first prize in the beginners’ category, with Ellie Dalton and Ava Reams coming joint third.

In the intermediate section Lucy Danagher took the top spot, and in the Advanced competition Florinea O’Donnell took gold, with little sister Rachel taking the silver medal.

Thanks to all competitors on what was a very enjoyable and friendly event. The Ursuline look forward to travelling to Clonmel when the Presentation host the next competition in the new year.
