The Main Guard in Clonmel is one of the county's protected structures
Confirmation from the planning section of Tipperary County Council that they have advertised for the position of an Architectural Conservation Officer has been welcomed by Cllr Siobhán Ambrose.
Cllr Ambrose, who has been raising this issue, said that Tipperary is fortunate to have 2,390 private and public protected structures recorded around the county.
She says, “We want to ensure that whether it is people’s private homes, public buildings like the Town Hall in Clonmel or other historic structures that we will have the expertise to advise and support the owners with respect to the ongoing preservation of these protected structures.
"I believe that the appointment of a dedicated Architectural Conservation Officer will greatly support the owners of these beautiful historic buildings in their continued efforts to preserve these houses, buildings or structures for future generations.
"I am delighted that this job has now been advertised on publicjobs.ie and I look forward to the appointment of a new Architectural Conservation Officer in the New Year".
