Cahir Tidy Towns' can collection is helping to create a greener environment into the future
Last Saturday at the special extra recycling can collection the Cahir Tidy Towns needed an all-out effort to achieve the 4 tonne of drinks cans required to reach their target for 2023. They do this collection with assistance from ABP and Tidy Towns - an amazing feat. Fair play to everyone who collected and donated cans during the past year.
The Group source cans from as far as Dundrum as well as Poulmucka, Ardfinnan and Goatenbridge and all areas in between. Cans for recycling have even come from towns such as Galway, Tramore and Horse & Jockey. It’s a huge effort. They were at 3.8 tonne for the year so the extra collection on Saturday was to get them over the line, so to speak.
For collections in 2024 please donate your cans between 10-11am to the castle car park on the first Saturday of every month, call us to collect or just drop them off beforehand.
All monies raised go towards providing trees for the town. In total, 700 trees have been planted in the last three years. Did you know the best time to plant a tree was last week?
The Cahir Tidy Towns group takes this opportunity to wish a happy New Year to all their volunteers and supporters.
